ASUS Debuts Vivobook S 15 As First AI Offline Copilot+ PC In Singapore

Artificial intelligence (AI) PCs are at the forefront of the laptop market, and ASUS continues to lead innovation with the Vivobook S 15. It is the tech giant’s first Copilot+ PC powered by Qualcomm CPU, as well as an offline mode for Microsoft’s Copilot+ AI features. With unparalleled processing speeds powered by the Snapdragon X Elite, it’s a force to be reckoned with.

Previously, the Vivobook S 16 was ASUS’s first AI PC with a dedicated Copilot key, but the S 15 takes it to a whole new level, adding even more AI features like security motion detection and enhanced video call quality to streamline productivity. The grand reveal comes just after Microsoft announced Copilot+, which will see the AI tool built directly into the PCs hardware, even enabling users to use the generative AI software without an internet connection.

What sets the Vivobook S 15 apart from most PCs in the market is that it is the first to hit 75 TOPS (trillions of operations per second), and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite, a new with built-in Qualcomm Hexagon NPU (neural processing unit), capable of processing images in seconds and handling software-intensive tasks, creating a seamless experience for productivity, creativity, and entertainment without compromising battery life.

It boasts a 15.6-inch ASUS Lumina OLED display, with a high 120Hz refresh rate and 3k display, rendering videos and games in glorious detail. It adds an extra touch of audio quality with Harman Kardon-certified audio. The laptop also comes with 32GB RAM, and 1TB of hard drive storage.

The best part? A full charge will last 18 hours, enabling you to work on the go even without a charger, with a high-capacity 70 Wh battery. Carrying the laptop around is a breeze, as it weighs a mere 1.42kg and is one of ASUS’ thinnest laptops at just 14.7 mm thin.

But what makes it an AI PC? There’s the Windows Studio Effects v2, which enhances lighting and noise removal during video calls in portrait mode, and an AiSense Camera with AI-powered Security, enabling the adaptive lock feature to detect a user’s presence.

Like the S 16, it now has a dedicated Copilot+ key, which makes accessing Copilot’s AI features, including data analysis and transcription convenient with just a button. But unlike the S 16, it can now access Copilot without an Internet connection, which means that instead of sending your direction and work to the cloud, for centralised processing, the S 16 can handle tasks locally on the device, so you’ll now receive the answers to your questions regardless of connectivity.

And if you need to connect several devices to the laptop, it boasts two USB 4 ports that support fast charging, 4K external displays, and up to 40 Gbps data transfers, along with two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, an HDMI 2.1 port, a microSD card reader, and an audio combo jack.

A single-zone RGB backlit keyboard with customisable lighting effects lets users set the mood with the laptop’s Dynamic Lighting feature, and comes with an expansive and smart gesture touchpad, which makes navigating without a mouse more convenient than ever.

“As ASUS embarks on this journey, marked by the launch of our first AI PC, we stand at the beginning of a new era of personal computing.” ASUS Co-CEO S.Y. Hsu said, speaking at the Vivobook S 15’s launch event on 21 May.

“The launch of our first ASUS Copilot+ PC powered by Snapdragon X Elite is an important milestone for us, and we believe that these devices are the future of consumer PCs and will drastically change the way we will work, study, create, and play.”

The ASUS Vivobook S 15 retails for S$2,199 and will be available at the ASUS Exclusive Store, online, and all other retailers on 5 July 2024, with pre-orders currently open.
