It’s been probably months since you’ve stepped out of your home, let alone into the halls of a cinema. But thankfully, as the COVID-19 situation in Singapore seems to stabilise a little, theatres will be opening once more from 13 July onwards.
And you know what that means — it’s time to catch all the upcoming movies where they rightfully belong — the actual big screen!

The likes of Shaw Theatres, Golden Village, Cathay Cineplexes, Filmgarde and The Projector have been closed since 27 March (that’s a little under 4 months now), and following the announcement by Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) released on 3 July, theatres islandwide will finally be opening once more, much to our delight.
And of course, how can we forget our long-awaited blockbusters of 2020? From the likes of Black Widow and Wonder Woman 1984, to Train to Busan: Peninsula and Top Gun: Maverick, there’s plenty to look forward to for the rest of the year.

But before you sprint over to your nearest cinema, it’s tantamount to practice safety above all else, given how the threat of COVID-19 is still pretty much present across Singapore. As such, social distancing measures will still be observed in all cinemas, including temperature taking, SafeEntry QR code scanning, contact tracing, and the availability of hand sanitisers in cinemas.
Additionally, moviegoers will have to wear masks at all times, even inside the hall, except when consuming food and drinks. A maximum of up to 5 persons (friends and family) will be allowed to sit together during screenings, while each theatre will only accommodate up to a maximum of 50 patrons per screening.

Marion has a serious RPG addiction. Sometimes it bleeds into real life; he forgets to sleep because he thinks he has a Witcher’s body clock. Forgive him in advance if he suddenly blurts out terms such as “Mind Flayer” and “Magic Missile”, because never once does he stop thinking about his next Dungeons & Dragons game.
