Everyone loves a good origin story, but what if the story was centred around a villain instead? DC Studios’ Clayface marks not just the iconic DC villain’s first live-action appearance, but also the debut of the studio’s first body horror film, taking audiences through every bone-crunching, skin-melting moment as Tom Rhys Harries’ Matt Hagen transforms into the titular shape-shifting monster.

For 200 fans in Singapore, these horrors were delivered in all their big-screen glory during an exclusive Geek Culture premiere screening hosted in collaboration with Warner Bros. Singapore on 21 October 2026 at Golden Village Cineleisure. From the get-go, anticipation was at an all-time high, as each attendee also took home a Clayface Special Edition Comic Book, which contains a reproduction of Detective Comics #298 “The Challenge of Clay-Face” originally published on 26 October 1961, along with other Clayface content.

Once everyone was seated and the lights dimmed, what followed was 108 minutes of pure unadulterated body horror insanity, filled with all the graphic moments that would make a fan’s skin crawl – exactly as it should be.
Directed by James Watkins (Speak No Evil) from a screenplay by Mike Flanagan (The Haunting of Hill House) and Hossein Amini (47 Ronin), the film follows rising movie star Matt Hagen, whose life is turned upside down following a fateful encounter with a local mob boss, leaving him horribly disfigured and practically out of a job. In desperation, Hagen volunteers to take an experimental drug from “fringe” scientist Dr Caitlyn Corr (Naomi Ackie), and although it is initially able to completely restore his face, things soon take a turn for the worse when horrible side effects start to emerge, slowly transforming Hagen’s body into living clay.

Will this be the start of a new, horror-centric phase for DC Studios? All this remains to be seen when Clayface launches in cinemas on 22 October 2026.
