Takashi Yamazaki’s monstrous sequel Godzilla Minus Zero will soon make landfall in Asia, as TOHO Entertainment Asia will distribute the film across select markets in November 2026, including in Singapore on 5 November.

To make the sequel an even bigger affair than its award-winning 2023 predecessor, Godzilla Minus One, the upcoming film will also make history as the first-ever Japanese live-action Godzilla movie and the first Japanese film ever to be filmed for IMAX. Apart from Singapore, Godzilla Minus Zero is set to launch in select regions across Asia, including the Philippines, Thailand, Laos, and Indonesia on 4 November, Malaysia and Brunei on 5 November, and Taiwan and Vietnam on 6 November.
In addition, the film has also been chosen for the 64th New York Film Festival Spotlight Gala, slated to run from 25 September to 12 October, where it will also be making its world premiere.
Yamazaki will return to direct, write, and handle the special effects of the sequel, which is set to feature a much bigger budget compared to its predecessor. Its main cast members, Ryunosuke Kamiki and Minami Hamabe, will reprise their roles as former kamikaze pilot Kōichi Shikishima and his wife Noriko Ōishi, respectively, and will be joined by newcomer Min Tanaka.
Godzilla Minus Zero “picks up in 1949, two years after the tumultuous events of Godzilla Minus One, and continues the story of the Shikishima family as they face an all-new calamity,” as per the film’s official description. Past teasers have shown that Godzilla is back with a vengeance this time around, as not only does he look much bulkier now, but he’s also expanding the scope of his terror by invading New York City.
The original 2023 film was a smash hit both in Japan and around the world, grossing US$116 million worldwide – making it the highest-grossing Japanese Godzilla film of all time – and becoming the first non-English language film to win best visual effects at the 2023 Academy Awards. With the sequel promising to be an even more spectacular affair, anticipation is high for just how much destruction Godzilla will cause once more when Godzilla Minus Zero launches in Singapore on 5 November 2026.
