‘The Batman II’ Delayed To Feb 2028; First Look At Robert Pattinson Revealed

The Batman Part II has been delayed once more, with the sequel now arriving nearly six years after the 2022 original, and it will launch in theatres on 18 February 2028.

This delay was announced via a video posted on Vimeo by director Matt Reeves, which was accompanied by the first camera test footage of Robert Pattinson’s return as the Caped Crusader, now donning his new suit and cowl. The sequel was originally slated for 2 October 2026 before it was delayed by Warner Bros in late 2024 to October 2027.

Back during its first delay, DC Studios co-chief James Gunn defended the decision by explaining that “a 5-year gap or more is fairly common in sequels”, and now, with The Batman Part II being pushed back by another four months, this will reportedly give the studio more time for post-production.

The Batman Part II will also star Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Sebastian Stan (Captain America: The Winter Soldier), Charles Dance (Game of Thrones), Brian Tyree Henry (Eternals) and Sebastian Koch (Bridge of Spies), although details on their roles, alongside the film’s plot, remain under wraps. Reeves is directing the film from a script he co-wrote with Mattson Tomlin (Terminator: Zero), and also serves as producer with Dylan Clark and Lynn Harris.

While story details haven’t been revealed, past test shots of the film showcasing the Batmobile driving through the snow do hint at a winter setting, with Reeves also previously teasing during an interview with Josh Horowitz that the sequel will focus more on the character of Bruce Wayne since “the first is so focused on Batman”. Additionally, while The Batman Part II falls under James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Studios banner, the sequel will not officially be part of the newly relaunched DC Universe.

The Batman Part II will now launch in theatres on 18 February 2028.
