‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Concept Art Gives First Look At Doctor Doom And X-Men

We’ve just gotten our clearest look yet at Marvel Studios’ upcoming blockbuster, Avengers: Doomsday, thanks to a piece of concept art featuring Doctor Doom, the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, and more.

The image was posted by former Marvel visual department director Andy Park on social media, accompanied by the caption, “the final full film I had the honour of leading as Director of Visual Development at Marvel Studios. This illustration commemorates that journey & reveals the characters & their looks for the first time.”

Unsurprisingly, Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom is front and centre in the image, offering our first look at how his mask will appear in the film. He is flanked by the Fantastic Four and the New Avengers, which include Reed Richards (Pedro Pascal), Sue Storm (Vanessa Kirby), the Human Torch (Joseph Quinn), the Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Red Guardian (David Harbour), Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russell), and Bob (Lewis Pullman).

The image also offers the first look at the X-Men’s mutant line-up in Avengers: Doomsday, which comprises Cyclops (James Marsden), Professor X (Patrick Stewart), Magneto (Ian McKellen), Beast (Kelsey Grammer), Nightcrawler (Alan Cumming), and Mystique (Rebecca Romijn), who reprise their roles from the 20th Century Fox films, alongside Channing Tatum as Gambit, last seen in 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine.

Loki (2021)

Rounding off the line-up are other familiar characters from past MCU films, such as Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers, Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man, Anthony Mackie’s Captain America, Danny Ramirez’s Falcon, Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi, Letitia Wright’s Black Panther, and Winston Duke’s M’Baku. Look closely at the centre of the image, and you can even spot Tom Hiddleston’s Loki, hinting that there’s still more to the character’s story after he sacrificed his freedom to power the multiverse at the end of his eponymous 2021 series.

Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Avengers: Doomsday is set to be an epic mash-up of three distinct Marvel universes, a testament to just how big a threat Doctor Doom is. While the revealed line-up is already pretty stacked, it does have some notable absences like Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, or Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool, so it remains to be seen if any of these heroes will appear in the film or potentially its sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, which are due to hit theatres on 18 December 2026 and 17 December 2027, respectively.
