Godzilla is back on a rampage, and this time, the humans are fighting back the only way they know how to – with nuclear weapons, as the latest trailer for Godzilla Minus Zero sees the King of Monsters getting a nuke dropped on him, as if that will work.
Much like most trailers before it, the latest teaser is incredibly brief and focuses more on the film’s human story than on its titular beast. Still, it does make room for epic shots to build hype for Godzilla’s arrival, including a scene of him charging up his Aura Blast, the same scene of him emerging from the ocean as shown in previous trailers, and most notably, a shot of a Japanese bomber dropping a nuke on an unseen party, most likely in a last-ditch attempt to stop the monster’s trail of destruction.
As a direct sequel to the 2023 reboot, Godzilla Minus Zero “picks up in 1949, two years after the tumultuous events of Godzilla Minus One, and continues the story of the Shikishima family as they face an all-new calamity,” as per the film’s official description. Past teasers have shown that Godzilla is back with a vengeance this time around, as not only does he look much bulkier now, but he’s also expanding his horizon of terror by invading New York City.
Based on the Japanese kaiju created by Toho, which also produces this sequel, Godzilla Minus Zero will be directed by Takashi Yamazaki, who returns following his work on the original. The film will also see the return of familiar faces like Ryunosuke Kamiki, who plays former kamikaze pilot Kōichi Shikishima, and his wife, Noriko Ōishi, played by Minami Hamabe.

The original 2023 film was a smash hit both in Japan and around the world, grossing US$116 million worldwide – making it the highest-grossing Japanese Godzilla film of all time – and becoming the first non-English language film to win best visual effects at the 2023 Academy Awards. With this in mind, all eyes are set on the sequel, which promises to be a much bigger extravaganza considering its higher budget. Godzilla Minus Zero is set to launch on 6 November 2026.
