Xbox is turning 25, and Microsoft has unveiled its anniversary console and controller, the Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition, to celebrate this milestone.
Just like its counterpart, the Xbox anniversary console and controller bear the hallmarks of everything that made the Xbox, the Xbox. Travelling back in time, both hardware are encased in shells of their cornerstone-inspired translucent “OG green design”.
The console, when powered on, lights up its iconic ‘X’ in green, like the original Xbox start-up. The front of the console features the Xbox 25th Anniversary logo and other elements that “celebrate Xbox fans and classic hardware”. It also comes with 1TB of storage.
The Xbox Wireless Controller X25 Special Edition, on the other hand, comes with the original ABXY button colours and black-and-white bumpers that pay homage to the original Duke controller.
It almost feels reminiscent of the good old days — switching the original Xbox on for a round of Halo: Combat Evolved on a Saturday afternoon in 2001, but this time with a more powerful machine. No doubt, hardcore fans will rush to snag a set when it is released in November 2026.
