D23 Asia, the ultimate fan event for all things Disney, is making its return once again in 2027, and this time, it will take place in Singapore for the first time, marking a milestone in the studio’s expansion across the Asia Pacific region.
As one of the largest Disney events ever, D23 is often described as “Disney’s version of Comic-Con” and features everything a fan can ask for, including major announcements surrounding movies, TV shows or theme parks, first look trailers, celebrity appearances and fan panels, exclusive merchandise, and fan activities such as cosplay competitions. First launched in Hollywood in 1923, D23 has steadily evolved into a global celebration, with events held in locations like Japan in 2018 and Brazil in 2024.
Apart from glorious amounts of merchandise for fans to snag, D23 has also been the go-to event for all the biggest teases for massive upcoming movies and shows, with announcements from past events like D23 Brazil 2024 including concept art for Avatar: Fire and Ash and Toy Story 5, and first looks at the Lilo & Stitch remake and Ice Age 6, so next year’s iteration in Singapore is bound to unveil more exciting announcements.
“Bringing D23 to Singapore reflects the incredible passion of Disney fans across Asia Pacific and our desire to meet them where they are,” said Asad Ayaz, Chief Marketing and Brand Officer, The Walt Disney Company, in a statement. “D23 Asia will bring these fans together as a community to celebrate the powerful connection they have with our stories, characters, and experiences, and to get an exciting look at what lies ahead.”
As the first D23 event held in Singapore, it also promises to be on the same scale as previous events, and considering the size of past events like the one held in Anaheim, Los Angeles, in 2022, it will be interesting to see how our Little Red Dot stacks up.
