‘Scream 7’ Unmasks Super Bowl Trailer, Marks Franchise’s First IMAX Release

Paramount has dropped the second trailer for its upcoming slasher sequel, Scream 7, which sees a new Ghostface killer come face-to-face with the franchise’s iconic final girl, Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell), with the film also marking a franchise first with its debut on IMAX screens.

Directed by Kevin Williamson, scriptwriter for the original 1996 movie, Scream 2 (1997) and Scream 4 (2011), the seventh instalment will follow Prescott’s storyline as a mom, defending her daughter Tatum (Isabel May) when a familiar threat arises.

“When a new Ghostface killer emerges in the quiet town where Sidney Prescott has built a new life, her darkest fears are realised as her daughter becomes the next target,” reads the trailer’s description. “Determined to protect her family, Sidney must face the horrors of her past to put an end to the bloodshed once and for all.” This trailer is also set to release during the Super Bowl on 8 February, with the film set for release in IMAX, a first for the franchise.

Scream 7 will also see the return of investigative journalist Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox), another familiar face in the franchise, alongside returning cast members like David Arquette’s Dewey Riley, Matthew Lillard’s Stu Macher, Skeet Ulrich as Billy Loomis, Mason Gooding and Jasmin Savoy Brown as siblings Chad and Mindy, alongside Scott Foley’s Roman Bridger, who was Scream 3‘s Ghostface.
