Marvel’s ‘Wonder Man’ Gets Prestige-Style Disney+ Trailer Teasing Simon Williams’ Powers

Marvel is kicking off 2026 in a rather unique way, as it has dropped an arthouse-film-styled trailer for its upcoming Disney+ TV series, Wonder Man.

Set for release on the streamer on 27 January, the upcoming eight-episode series will see a struggling actor with secret powers, Simon Williams, played by Aquaman’s  Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, who teams up with former actor Trevor Slattery, played by Ben Kingsley, who Marvel fans might recognise from his role as the fake Mandarin in 2013’s Iron Man 3 and 2021’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. With Slattery’s help, Williams signs up for a role in legendary director Von Kovak’s (played by Superman’s Zlatko Burić) remake of the superhero film Wonder Man, providing an extremely meta plot that’s a fresh take on the fatiguing genre.

In line with the film’s topics of superhero fatigue and the overall entertainment industry, Wonder Man’s newest trailer is edited like one made for a prestige indie film, set to Gioachino Rossini’s “The Barber of Seville.” Apart from leaning into its more comedic elements, the trailer also teases a look at Williams’ powers, giving a glimpse at his ionic-energy-based powers from the comic books, which, in the case of this trailer, allows him to emit an energy pulse that decimates an entire room.

Created by Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Spider-Man: Brand New Day) and Andrew Guest (Hawkeye), with the former also directing its first two episodes, Wonder Man will mark the 17th television series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), and part of Phase Six alongside 2025’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps and the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.

Wonder Man is set to be released in its entirety on Disney+ on 27 January 2026, and will consist of eight episodes.
