The PlayStation 5 has received its latest system update, which finally adds the ability to pair a user’s DualSense wireless controller across multiple devices without the hassle of re-pairing every time they switch.

As outlined via a PlayStation Blog post, the feature was implemented to create “a more flexible and seamless gaming experience” as the DualSense controller is built to be compatible across multiple platforms like PC and on mobile devices.
With the latest update, each controller can now register up to four devices simultaneously, swapping between them by using a certain combination of buttons as described below.
| Slot Number | Button Used | Player Indicator Lights |
| 1 | PS button and Triangle button | One light on |
| 2 | PS button and Circle button | Two lights on |
| 3 | PS button and Cross button | Three lights on |
| 4 | PS button and Square button | Four lights on |
To use these slots, players must first register a device with it using these steps:
- Make sure the light bar and player indicator on the DualSense controller are off. If they’re turned on, press and hold the PS button until they turn off.
- Press and hold one of the action buttons (triangle, circle, cross, or square) and the PS button for over five seconds. The light bar and player indicator will flash twice.
- Turn on Bluetooth on the device, and select the option to add Bluetooth devices.
- Select the DualSense controller from the detected devices. The light bar lights up, and the player indicator’s lights blink according to the slot number.

Once registered, players can then swap freely between devices by pressing and holding the associated button combinations for three seconds and releasing them once the light bar and player indicator blink. More information on which devices and OS versions currently support Bluetooth connections with the DualSense wireless controller can also be found here.
Additionally, the update will also introduce a Power Saver option for the console, accessed via Settings > System > Power Saving > Use Power Saver. Using this feature will enable supported games to scale back performance to allow the console to reduce its power consumption, with future updates for games such as Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, Demon’s Souls, and Ghost of Yōtei including support for this feature.
