‘Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight’ Blends Open World Gotham With Decades Of Lore

As one of the most recognisable superhero icons, Batman continues to enjoy a storied history that spans comic books, films, animated series, video games, and more. Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, the latest ambitious project from TT Games — the studio behind the Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga and numerous other licensed Lego titles — will celebrate the different depictions of his life in its own way.

Releasing in 2026, the newly announced entry will mark the Caped Crusader’s first solo outing for consoles in over 10 years and is set to recreate iconic moments across the franchise in brick form. The trailer unveiled at Gamescom 2025 is jam-packed with them, from the various designs of the Batmobile and Bane’s famous darkness monologue in The Dark Knight Rises to the car chase between Batman and the Penguin in Matt Reeves’ The Batman.

Meanwhile, notable gaming touches include a combat system reminiscent of Rocksteady’s Batman Arkham series, an open-world Gotham for players to explore, and even stealth mechanics. Expect to cross paths with plenty of allies and foes along the way, such as Jim Gordon, Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, Catwoman, and Talia al Ghul, as well as The Joker, The Penguin, Poison Ivy, Ra’s al Ghul, and, as previously mentioned, Bane. Longtime fans of the Lego games will also be happy to know that its characteristic slapstick action and humour have been retained.

“Whether he’s the wrathful Dark Knight, the brilliant detective, or the unlikely father of the ‘Batfam,’ Batman has constantly evolved — shaped by the world around him while remaining a timeless symbol,” Jim Lee, president, publisher, and chief creative officer at DC.
