‘Zootopia 2’ Trailer Unleashes Buddy Cop Therapy And Giant Snake Chaos

After nearly a decade, Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde are back on the case… but not without undergoing some buddy cop therapy first. The full trailer for Zootopia 2, the long-awaited sequel to Disney’s Oscar-winning animated pic, opens with the bunny-and-fox pair trying to resolve their clashing communication styles in a room of other dysfunctional partners.

Leading the session is the adorable quokka Dr. Fuzzby (Quinta Brunson, Abbott Elementary), who counters Judy’s statement that they can work well together by calling attention to her anxious foot tapping and Nick’s “disconnected affectation”. To save their partnership, the duo is tasked with an important assignment — tracking down a mysterious snake named Gary (Ke Huy Quan, Everything Everywhere All at Once), the first to set foot in the city “in forever”.

Alongside new locations like the marshlands, the trailer also features a handful of familiar faces, including Chief Bogo (Idris Elba, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom), Clawhauser (Nate Torrence, Supernatural), Bellwether (Jenny Slate, Bob’s Burgers), Duke Weaselton (Alan Tudyk, Arrested Development), Yax (Tommy Chong, That ’70s Show), pop star Gazelle (singer Shakira), fearsome mobster Mr. Big (Maurice LaMarche, Inspector Gadget), and his newlywed daughter, Fru Fru (Leah Latham).

First announced during an earnings call in 2023, Zootopia 2 will put Judy and Nick’s teamwork to the “ultimate test when they find themselves on the twisting trail of a mystery tied to the arrival of a venomous snake in the animal metropolis,” per Disney’s synopsis. The film is directed and written by Jared Bush, with Byron Howard serving as co-director. Ginnifer Goodwin (Once Upon a Time) and Jason Bateman (Ozark) are reprising their roles as Judy and Nick, respectively.

Alongside Brunson and Ke, who was earlier revealed as a new cast addition, Fortune Feimster (The Mindy Project) is set to make her debut as Nibbles the Beaver. The original movie was released in 2016, and followed Nick and Judy joining forces to find a group of missing predators. It earned more than US$1 billion at the global box office, spawning a spin-off series called Zootopia+ on Disney+ in 2022.

Zootopia 2 is due out on 26 November 2025, just in time for the Thanksgiving weekend.
