We finally have our first look at Karl Urban in action as Johnny Cage in Warner Bros. upcoming sequel Mortal Kombat II, just not in the actual movie itself, but rather in a faux movie trailer for the in-universe action blockbuster, Uncaged Fury.
The cheesy minute-long fake trailer, which was posted on Warner’s YouTube page, featured the B-list movie star and hero of Earthrealm front and centre, decked out in his signature shades and a blue jacket bearing his initials as he faces off against a warehouse full of goons in an unapologetically ’90s style.

In true retro fashion, the entire trailer is narrated by a gravelly voice harkening back to the late industry legend and “The Voice of God”, Don LaFontaine, who was known for revolutionising trailer narration in the ’90s, with the trailer featuring dramatic lines such as “They pissed him off. They f**ked with his shades. They should have brought more guys.”
To end off the clip with a literal bang, a final goon shows up and fires a rocket at Cage, which he then effortlessly jumps over, looking away from the resulting explosion and straight into the camera like a true badass. The trailer ends with a brief flash of the iconic Mortal Kombat logo, reminding audiences that the true blockbuster is yet to come. Check out the trailer below:
This tease is just the latest in a string of sneak peeks for Mortal Kombat II, with the film receiving four screenshots of some of its newest characters, like Cage, in March, alongside a retro movie poster for Uncaged Fury that parodied Tom Cruise’s 1996 classic spy adventure Mission: Impossible.
Urban (The Boys) is set to make his debut as Johnny Cage alongside a new cast of characters joining the sequel, including Adeline Rudolph (Hellboy: The Crooked Man), Martyn Ford (F9), Tati Gabrielle (You), Damon Herriman (Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood), Ana Thu Nguyen and CJ Bloomfield (Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga) as Kitana, Shao Kahn, Jade, Quan Chi, Sindel and Baraka, respectively.
Helmed by returning director Simon McQuoid, Mortal Kombat II will also see the return of familiar faces like Ludi Lin (Power Rangers) as Liu Kang, Joe Taslim (The Raid) as Sub-Zero, Tadanobu Asano (Shōgun) as Raiden, Jessica McNamee (The Neighbour) as Sonya Blade, Mehcad Brooks (Supergirl) as Jax, Lewis Tan (Cobra Kai) as Cole Young, Chin Han (Skyscraper) as Shang Tsung, and Hiroyuki Sanada (47 Ronin) as Scorpion, when it hits cinemas on 24 October 2025.
