3dRudder’s PlayStation VR Controller Gets A Confirmed Release Date

3dRudder first announced the release of their PSVR Controller during CES 2019 early this year. Almost three months later, we finally get more details on the foot motion controller for the PlayStation VR.

For those unaware, the PSVR Controller was made was the intent of solving a player’s issue of moving in-game when playing the PlayStation VR. The device, which resembles a large round disk with the Sony PlayStation logo embossed on top, works by simply tilting your feet in the desired direction, The greater the angle of the tilt, the fast you will travel.

“You can walk straight, sprint while taking a corner or stop exactly where you want to, in a smooth, seamless way,” Sony explains on their PlayStation Blog.

The PSVR Controller will have no sticks nor buttons, which gives you a more hands-on gaming experience. All you need to do in order to use the 3sRudder is to plug it into your PS4 console via USB and that’s it. No additional setup needed, plus the PSVR Controller is compatible with PlayStation Move motion controllers, the PS VR Aim controller, as well as the Dualshock 4.

Sony hopes to improve a player’s gameplay experience with the release of the PSVR Controller, “You can use your feet to dodge incoming attacks and leave your hands to concentrate on firing back, while glancing round for additional enemies. It’s simply a more immersive experience.”

Once launched on the PS4, the PSVR Controller will be supported by 25 games, including Contagion VR, Sairento VR, and Immortal Legacy: The Jade Cypher.

3dRudder’s PSVR Controller will be released on June 17, and will retail for £119 (or approximately S$180). Pre-orders for the 3dRudder is now open on their website.
