Xiaomi has come a long way from its humble beginnings, charting plenty of growth from branching out into non-smartphone offerings, including smart home appliances and most recently, electric vehicles (EVs). The Chinese giant rolled out its first EV this March with the Xiaomi SU7, seeking to further build its “Human x Car x Home” smart ecosystem.
Closer to home, the company remains committed to expanding its store presence. Two months after setting up its online shopping portal, mi.com, for local users, Xiaomi has opened its first directly-managed storefront at Funan in Singapore, which is unlike existing outlets run in collaboration with distributor partners.
The new space features more than 300 of the latest smartphones, tablets, and smart home devices, from standard picks like the flagship Xiaomi 14 series and portable chargers to more niche products, such as electric screwdrivers and air compressors. Moving forward, there are plans to launch another two stores by the end of 2025, bringing the total of direct and authorised stores to 10.
“With more direct presence and better customer support, we hope to enhance the shopping experience, provide customers with the latest and best products, and make technology accessible to everyone,” said Alex Tang, general manager of Xiaomi Southeast Asia, who graced the opening ceremony.
The goal, he shared, is to ensure the same retail experience for both direct and partner stores, such that the consumers won’t be able to tell one apart from the other. To do so, the traditional authorised model will be upgraded to the new version, with the new operational system – the same one developed for the China market – allowing for enhanced stock allocation and operational efficiency.
In celebration of the store opening, customers in Singapore can also look forward to exclusive launch in-store promotions on 21 and 22 December, including up to 19 percent off selected products, alongside a free Xiaomi Smart Band 9 Pro and Electric Toothbrush T302 with a purchase of the Xiaomi MIX Flip.
