‘X-Men’ Producer Simon Kinberg In Talks To Produce ‘Star Trek’ Prequel Film

The Star Trek prequel film could make a warp jump soon enough, and X-Men producer Simon Kinberg is in talks to join the crew as the film’s producer. First announced at CinemaCon early this year, the project was described as a “Star Trek origin story”, and will go into production this year.

Kinberg is famously known for writing and producing a decent amount of X-Men movies, with credits for X-Men: First Class, X-Men: Days of Future Past, and X-Men: Apocalypse. J.J. Abrams will co-produce, as he has for all currently released Star Trek films. With Andor director Toby Haynes on board, it seems promising that the prequel film will take flight.

Since 2016’s Star Trek Beyond, several attempts to make a new instalment have fallen through, but recent developments promised the film was still happening along with the current prequel film. The cast is very much enthusiastic to return, though it is unknown when we’ll hear more updates on Star Trek 4.

It’s up to the prequel to revive the film franchise after close to ten years, and whether they’ll be able to brave the storm is anyone’s guess.
