Gamers Upset As Leaked Video Shows WalMart’s Secret Stash Of Thousands of PlayStation 5 Consoles

A TikTok video has gone viral, and it’s because of the seemingly huge stockpile of PlayStation 5 consoles (PS5) being shown, and allegedly being kept in a warehouse for American retail giant, WalMart.

Since it was launched last November, the console has been selling out as soon as it appears on shelves, leading to a secondary market that has driven up prices, even one year later. This has had the effect of generating even more demand, with many gamers who want to get their hands on the console being unable to do so.

The clip was uploaded on 12 October by user @hishamhasan3, and it has accrued over 3.1 million views since. Allegedly, the stockpile is being kept inside a Walmart warehouse. The thing is, this facility is likely a distribution centre for Walmart, which is one of the largest retailers in the United States, with nearly 5,000 locations across the country. A few thousand PS5s in a distribution center that likely serves several states makes the haul in the video seem rather small in the grand scheme of things.

Still, this has led to outrage from gamers, because globally, there is a shortage of the PS5 due to the huge demand, yet it appears as if a retail giant is hoarding the consoles. However, it is possible that this is a holiday stockpile, which means they will be made available for shoppers as the holiday season closes in.

And let’s face it – even if and when WalMart releases this stock, it’s unlikely to put a dampener on global demand for Sony’s latest video game console.
