Upcoming ‘Payday 3’ Cashes In On New Criminal Dawn With Steam Listing

It has been a while, but would-be criminals everywhere have something to look forward to as Payday 3 becomes more of a reality following the series being picked up by Koch Media under the Prime Matter label. The game now boasts a brand new Steam page, with plenty of information to whet the appetite.

As Overkill Software, developers of the cooperative heist-failure simulator, put it, “A new criminal dawn is finally upon us.”

Heading to New York this time around, Payday 3 will see the return of the original four members of the gang. Dallas, Chains, Wolf, and Hoxton will be back in action, and for fans, that is definitely some sweet news.

“Step out of retirement back into the life of crime in the shoes of the Payday Gang, the envy of their peers and the nightmare of law enforcement wherever they go. Several years after the crew’s reign of terror over Washington DC has ended, they assemble once again to deal with the threat that roused them out of early retirement,” stated the Payday 3 store page.

While the gameplay mechanics should be familiar, Overkill Software has shared that it is aiming for its New York to be “enormous” and “living” as locations transform once the alarms are ringing. Expect to see more modern stuff as well, like high-tech surveillance and new gadgets. It is also likely we will see much of the present reality reflected in the game, such as cryptocurrency and the many tech giants that do business in this part of the world.

Payday 3 will have at least 18 months of post-launch support, as per the agreement between Starbreeze, who published Payday 2, and new owners Koch Media. How that will take shape remains to be seen, but we could very well expect the Games as a Service model to be in full effect.

Nevertheless, it is great to see the return of one of the more well-received co-op shooters out there, and with Payday 3 set for a 2023 release, that’s something to look forward to already.
