If you’ve been geeking out over the Tron light suits for the longest time, you’ll get to see one up close and in detail, as Tron: Ares has released a new teaser image of its updated light suit for the upcoming movie.
The suit glows an ominous red as a helmeted figure turns to face the camera, who is presumably Jared Leto’s character, as the Joker star tweeted the image with the accompanying caption, “See you on the Grid.”
The synopsis for the film released by Disney reads, “TRON: Ares follows a highly sophisticated Program, Ares, who is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humankind’s first encounter with A.I. beings.”
Tron: Ares also has a star-studded cast, and the full list alongside Leto includes Greta Lee (Past Lives ), Evan Peters (American Horror Story), Hasan Minhaj (The Morning Show), Jodie Turner-Smith (Anne Boleyn), Arturo Castro (Narcos), and Cameron Monaghan (Gotham) , with Gillian Anderson (The X Files).
Director Joachim Rønning also weighed in, adding that, “I’m excited to be part of the Tron franchise and bring this new film to fans around the world. Tron: Ares builds upon the legacy of cutting-edge design, technology and storytelling. Now more than ever, it feels like the right time to return to the Grid.”
Production began in January 2024, with Tron: Ares expected to open in theatres in 2025.
