Todd Phillips Shares New Joaquin Phoenix Photo From ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’

A new photo of Joaquin Phoenix as the Joker/Arthur Fleck has hit the internet – and it’s thanks to Joker: Folie à Deux director Todd Phillips.

The new image sees Joker standing in the rain, surrounded by unidentified people holding colourful umbrellas.

Accompanying the photo is a caption thanking fans and supporters of his film.

“Oct. 4. Thanks for all the messages. Four years ago we had quite a ride. Lots of great memories. More to come,” wrote Phillip on Instagram.

Plot details of Joker: Folie à Deux are still kept under wraps, but it is said to be a musical and will take place within Arkham Asylum.

Joker: Folie à Deux features the return of Phoenix as the titular character and Zazie Beetz as Sophie Dumond, Arthur’s love interest in the first movie.

The cast also includes Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn, Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland, and Harry Lawtey.

The first Joker movie was a box office success and became the first R-rated film to gross of US$1 billion worldwide. It won numerous awards including an Academy Award, Golden Globe Award, BAFTA Award, Screen Actors Guild Award and Critics’ Choice Movie Award for Phoenix, as well as the Amanda Award, Robert Award, Golden Lion Award and Satellite Award for director Phillips.

Joker: Folie à Deux is scheduled to be released on 4 October 2024.
