‘The Rogue Prince of Persia’ Delayed After ‘Hades II’ Surprise Early Access Release

Hades II‘s surprise early access release on Steam was a hit with players, and developer Evil Empire has taken notice, deciding to delay The Rogue Prince of Persia ahead of its 14 May early access release date. Its new release date has not been announced, but the developer promised it would be within this month.

The roguelite game comes just after the release of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, and is a 2D side-scroller, with a distinct storyline from its predecessor. The Rogue Prince of Persia would’ve entered early access on its planned release date, with the first of three acts being available to play.

“While we have every confidence in The Rogue Prince of Persia, it’s not every day that a game in the same genre as you, which is one of the most anticipated upcoming games of 2024, will release into Early Access a week before you plan to do the same,” says developer Evil Empire, “We are not prideful enough to ignore the implications of that, and we truly believe that this short delay is the best decision for us and our Early Access journey.”
