The New Shopee Singapore Office Is A Modern Haven

Where’s Ronaldo?

While the Portuguese professional footballer, who headlined Shopee’s latest advertising campaign, was nowhere in sight at the opening of the new office by the eCommerce company, there were plenty of other cool things at their new office.

We had the privilege of stepping into Shopee Singapore’s shiny new office, and took a gander at the kinds of cool benefits their employees can enjoy on a daily basis.

On the ground floor, you’re greeted with a slew of recreational facilities that you can pick from to help you blow off some steam. The gym is chock full of equipment such as treadmills, weights, medicine balls and the like to keep you in tip-top shape.

Nearby, there’s a dedicated Fun Zone, complete with pool tables, foosball tables, a table tennis table as well as an arcade for something more upbeat.

And if these aren’t to your liking and you just want to enter zen mode, there’s even a massage parlour so you can push your worries away.

The cafeteria in the Shopee office is about half the size of a football field. The tables are also generous, so you’ll never run out of space as you have your lunch/brunch/dinner breaks.

Upstairs, the spacious four levels’ worth of offices assumes an open-concept design, ditching cubicles in favour of fostering collaboration among the employees. Even the glass window panes are almost always open, ushering in natural light to keep the environment bright and friendly all around.

However, if you still prefer to work in a more secluded space, or need to take a video conference by yourself, fret not; there are still individual cubicles situated around for that purpose!

The life of a 21st centurion is no doubt a fast-paced and stressful one, but one always needs to find some pockets of time to catch up on some beauty sleep, hence there are nap pods located near the offices so you can do just that. These cozy little rooms resemble the interior of small double-decker hotel bunk beds, complete with blankets and comfy pillows, so you’re more than assured of getting some much-needed shuteye.

And if you’re feeling peckish but too lazy to go all the way to the ground floor to grab a bite, the large pantries are always teeming with snacks and other tidbits for you to do so.

Capping off our tour was a visit to the in-house recording studio, complete with a couple of green screens, props and lighting. And no, we checked; Ronaldo wasn’t here. Sorry.

The new Shopee building is certainly a haven for millennial workers, boasting all sorts of facilities and amenities ready for one’s perusal. It’s interesting how the office currently houses only half of what it can accommodate (up to 3,000 pax).

The only catch? The 244,000 sq ft office is located on one side of Singapore, at Science Park Drive.
