The Monsterverse Invades Party Battle Royale ‘Sonic Rumble’ In Limited-Time Godzilla Crossover Event

SEGA’s adorable free-to-play arcade Battle Royale game Sonic Rumble has received a crossover of epic proportions, as the King of Monsters has entered the fray in a limited-time Godzilla event, featuring a new stage and Monsterverse-themed unlockables.

Happening from now until 21 January 2026, the Sonic Rumble Godzilla crossover is headlined by a brand new stage, Godzilla Survival, which sees players jumping between three ships on the ocean, all while avoiding the hulking Godzilla in the background, who will constantly blast Heat Rays that players will need to avoid. In addition, several Shockirus parasite kaiju have also boarded the ships, meaning players will need to deal with multiple threats all at once.

Godzilla isn’t just limited to being a background character, as the King of Monsters, alongside other iconic creatures, will also be made available as player skins via the game’s pass system. In the free tier, players are able to unlock Godzilla as a playable character through general gameplay, who comes with his very own Heat Ray ability, which devastates foes in a straight line in front of him. Other notable unlocks include an adorable Fire Rodan buddy that will hover next to the player in-game, or themed emotes like Roar.

In the premium pass, players will be able to unlock an additional skill for Godzilla, Nuclear Pulse, a close-range explosion that damages everyone around the player. Additionally, players of this tier will also be able to unlock King Ghidorah, who also has a unique skill, Gravity Beams, alongside the Mothra buddy.

Finally, in the Red Ring shop, which is a currency obtainable by either purchasing it directly or via achievements and leaderboard rankings, players will be able to unlock Mechagodzilla and Destoroyah, which both come with their own skills, Absolute Zero and Variable Slicer, respectively.

Players looking to join in on the massive monster rumble can do so right now, as Sonic Rumble is free-to-play on PC via Steam, iOS, and Android. The Godzilla crossover event will take place from now until 21 January 2026.
