Superman: Man of Tomorrow Reboots The DC Animated Movie Universe

The superhero world has had its fair share of apocalyptic endings recently with Ragnarok destroying all of Asgard and Thanos’ attack in Avengers: Endgame. As for the DC Animated Movie Universe(DCAMU) Justice League Dark: Apokolips War marked the end of the era. Now, a reboot may be swooping in with the new Superman: Man of Tomorrow.

At the end of Justice League Dark: Apokolips War, Flash was convinced by Constantine to create a second Flashpoint in order to undo Darkseid’s work. And while we are unsure if Flash’s time-travelling run may have created a new reality involving Superman: Man of Tomorrow, the animated film does mark a new beginning for the Man of Steel in the animated films.

“The films were winding down from the previous arcs, the stories being for the past ten years for Warner Animation,” director Chris Palmer told CBR. “In searching for [a way to] launch the first film [in a new direction], Superman seemed like the big character to go with.”

Palmer confirmed that this isn’t a standalone entry in DC’s animated film canon. Instead, it may reboot the entire DCAMU. Moreover, the new art style also hopes to bring a fresh look to the animated films. In the lighter take on the superhero, we will get to see Clark Kent dressed in blue again battling Lobo and Parasite.

With the upcoming DC FanDome event that will be happening over this weekend, we look forward to seeing more content regarding the future of DCAMU. Superman: Man of Tomorrow will be released digitally on 23 August 2020 before getting a Blu-ray and DVD release on 8 September.
