Super Mario & The Minions Are Coming To Universal Studios Singapore In First Mega Expansion!

Over the next few years, Universal Studios Singapore (USS) will see its first-ever expansion to accommodate a new generation of theme park entertainment. Leading the charge for this expansion in Singapore will be Nintendo’s iconic mascot Mario and the Minions from Illumination Entertainment’s Despicable Me franchise.

USS has been a must-visit spot for tourists and locals alike, boasting some of the most fun and interesting attractions, as well as regular events to spice things up since its inception in 2010. This is all part of a massive S$4.5 billion investment to expand Resorts World Sentosa to about double its size.

The two expansions will be dubbed Super Nintendo World and Minion Park respectively, and will feature cool new rides, activities, and exclusive merch to keep you on your toes.

Super Nintendo World will naturally feature the iconic characters from the Mario games, as well as other beloved Nintendo characters in special themed attractions, shops and restaurants.

Minion Park will heavily be themed around everyone’s favourite yellow Minions, with the main attraction being the 3D ride Despicable Me Minion Mayhem. In it, you’ll be teaming up with the Minions to enact Felonious Gru’s latest scheme in a fun-filled and wacky experience for your friends and family. The Minion Park will be replacing the Madagascar Area.

Other new planned attractions in Resorts World Sentosa include an expansion of the popular S.E.A. Aquarium, which will be renamed the Singapore Oceanarium. It then will feature three new zones, each with a focal concept in mind: an Evolution & Extinction zone; an Exploration & Deep Ocean zone; as well as a Conservation zone.

Additionally, there will be new entertainment options, such as an Adventure Dining Playhouse, the first of its kind in Singapore. It will blend live performance and dining with themes such as pirates and treasure-hunting, which will instill a sense of immersion in guests.

There will also be a new Waterfront Lifestyle Complex that will be part of a complete overhaul of the current promenade. In it will be two hotels, as well as an assortment of dining and retail options, to transform the waterfront into an exciting 24-hour premium lifestyle venue for visitors.

The major expansion as part of RWS 2.0 will be drip-fed in phases, beginning as early as 2020 and projected to be completed at around 2025.
