It’s time for some co-op shenanigans across multiple worlds! Hazelight Studios, the minds behind It Takes Two and A Way Out, have revealed their latest buddy adventure, Split Fiction, bringing their signature co-op flair in a new genre-defying title coming on 6 March 2025.

Releasing as part of Electronic Art’s (EA) EA Originals program, Split Fiction will be a co-op-only action-adventure split-screen game, a genre Hazelight is well known for, and follows protagonists Mio and Zoe, two contrasting writers that get trapped in their own stories and have to work together, jumping between sci-fi and fantasy worlds to break free unscathed.
“At Hazelight, we’ve been building co-op games for 10 years, and with every game we push beyond what players expect for action-adventure co-op games. I’m so proud of what we have built with Split Fiction. Let me tell you guys, it’s going to blow your mind,” said Hazelight founder Josef Fares. “Because Mio and Zoe jump back and forth between sci-fi and fantasy worlds we’ve been able to do some really wild things with gameplay and storytelling. This is definitely our most epic co-op adventure yet.”
His statement certainly rings true, as the trailer shows off an impressive amount of different gameplay mechanics. According to Fares, each level will also feature its own gameplay system, with the trailer teasing features unique to both the sci-fi and fantasy levels, such as 2.5D platforming sections, dragon riding, high-tech exosuits and even a level where players take the form of a pig, and eventually gets turned into a sausage (which players control as well).
The game will also see the return of a Friend’s Pass, a staple feature for the studio, which allows a player who owns the title to invite a friend to play completely free of charge, with crossplay supported across PlayStation, Xbox and PC.
Split Fiction will be released on 6 March 2025 on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
