Singaporean Film Maker Makes Hilarious Low Budget Parody Of Avengers: Endgame Trailer

Jaze Phua first became famous two months ago for absolutely nailing the Naruto #MirrorRunChallenge, with his original video on his Facebook page garnering over one million views.

Since then Phua has created One Piece and Dragonball versions of the Mirror Run Challenge.

Now, Phua is back with another great video, this time a parody of the trailer for Avengers: Endgame, the much-anticipated finale to the Infinity Saga of the MCU.

Not long after the video got published, the internet was all over it. Praises poured from both Facebook and Reddit for how well made the video was, despite it being made on a low budget.

Phua framed the video according to the famous format of ‘client’s expectation vs client’s budget’ which will surely resonate with everyone who has ever worked with a particularly problematic client before.

Here are some of the scenes we found particularly funny:

Hawkeye teaching his daughter how to shoot an arrow

A touching scene between father and daughter in the trailer. Phua’s version had us cracking up when the arrow made a swift arc towards the ground followed by Clint (played by Phua himself) happily giving his daughter a high-five.

Asgard in all its glory

Though it is no longer around, courtesy of Surtur in Thor Ragnarok, fans will always remember Asgard as a place of immense beauty, as well as being Thor’s homeland. In Phua’s parody, Asgard is well… it certainly is something else. Made of sand and cardboard tubes, we’re not exactly sure if anyone will be calling it home but the shot juxtaposing the two ‘Asgards’ against one another is definitely funny.

Ant-Man jumping into the thick of the action mid-battle

What was originally a cool action scene with Ant-Man deftly hopping about became more a hysterical one with a low budget Ant-Man made of paper attached to a long stick hopping around on screen, the shot then cuts to paper Ant-Man moving towards the screen, ever battle-ready with his pose.

Thor and Nebula getting ready for battle

Which is stronger, Stormbreaker or a Nokia 3310? That’s the kind of questions you’ll be left with after watching Phua’s parody. In a funny twist, the Singaporean replaced Thor’s newly forged weapon with the Nokia 3310, a definite gag on how indestructible the phone is. Right after, we see Nebula looking menacing with her dual weapon, only Phua’s Nebula has a plastic bag on the talent’s face in place of makeup and CGI.

Another shot of Nebula

In case the first gif was not enough, here is another shot of Plastic Bag Nebula, this time in a blue coloured plastic bag to keep in line with the Nebula’s colour. Also props to Phua for being able to find such good locations. This particular scene seemed to have been shot at NTU’s School of Art, Design, and Media.

The end card sequence

What happens when the Avengers become a low budget film? They become the “Averagers”.

Frankly, the whole trailer is amazing and we will definitely be more than willing to watch a full-length version of this. All 3 hours and 2 minutes of it.
