Redmagic 9S Pro Gaming Test — Zenless Zone Zero, Honkai: Star Rail, COD: Warzone Mobile & PUBG

Mobile gaming just keeps getting better and better, and Redmagic has been part of the, well, magic for a while now. Almost a year after the release of its predecessor, the Redmagic 9S Pro is back with upgraded performance and four colours for the first time: Sleet, Frost, Snowfall, Cyclone.

The device will be the first in the family to boast the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Leading Version processor, or so the company calls it. In simpler terms, that means an overclocked edition of the regular Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, a step up from the previously-equipped Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Leading Version.

Alongside up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, users can also various gaming-focused features, including improved cooling capabilities, 520Hz shoulder triggers, and a long-lasting 6,500mAh battery. The 6.8-inch display touts FHD+ resolution (2,480 x 1,116) and eye protection features, while custom RGB lighting with 16.8 million colour options and a new backlight strip add some bling into the mix.

As expected, the Redmagic 9S Pro is a powerhouse in action. Running Zenless Zone Zero, Honkai: Star Rail, Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile, and PUBG Mobile proved to be a seamless, effortless affair, sporting little to no frame rate drops. At higher settings, temperatures crossed the 55-degree Celsius mark, but otherwise, the gaming experience remains highly enjoyable and impressive — check out its beastly prowess in the video above.

The phone is now available for purchase on the official website, with the Frost variant releasing mid-September, and early bird offers spanning 23 to 30 July. The Sleet and Frost iterations, retailing for S$949 each, will ship with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, while the S$1,199 Snowfall and Cyclone are offer 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.
