Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart To Feature 60 FPS Ray Tracing Mode At Launch

When all of us thought Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will only feature two modes on launch day, 30 FPS ray tracing and 60 FPS, Insomniac Games took to Twitter to give us a surprise on the third display mode today.

Insomniac Games announced that a 60 FPS ray tracing mode titled ‘Performance RT Mode’ will be available with an update on launch day. This new display mode is the same one that was put into Spider-Man Remastered and Spider-Man: Miles Morales sometime after their launch.

There will be three display modes for players of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart: Fidelity Mode, which offers 30 FPS and ray-tracing at 4K resolution; Performance Mode, which is fixed at 60 FPS; and Performance Ray Tracing Mode, which allows for 60 FPS gameplay with ray-tracing.

It is nice to see Insomniac Games giving players the display options to decide their own visual experience when the game releases. While the resolution of the game will drop as you go into either Performance modes, Insomniac has mentioned that their dynamic base resolution will still achieve a 4K image using temporal injection, so all three modes should still look amazing regardless.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is available for pre-order now and will release on 11 June exclusively on the PS5.
