The Straw Hat Pirates will continue to sail the high seas with Netflix. The streamer’s live-action TV adaptation of One Piece, based on Eiichiro Oda’s long-running manga of the same name, has been renewed for a third season ahead of its Season 2 premiere, which is slated for 2026.
Announced during the annual One Piece Day Celebration in Tokyo, Japan, it will welcome Ian Stokes, previously co-executive producer on Season 1, as co-showrunner alongside Joe Tracz. Production is set to begin later in Cape Town, South Africa, with no other details, including new cast members and story specifics, shared.
In addition to the news, a first-look trailer for One Piece Season 2 was also unveiled, showing Luffy (Iñaki Godoy, The Imperfects) and his fellow crewmates venturing deeper into The Grand Line as they cross paths with familiar faces from the original work, such as Captain Smoker (Callum Kerr, The Wheel of Time), the friendly giant Brogy (Brendan Murray, Raised by Wolves), Miss Wednesday aka Vivi (Charithra Chandran, Bridgerton), Miss All Sunday (Lera Abova, Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin), and more. Notably, fan-favourite Chopper, who got an extended look at this year’s Tudum event, is missing from the footage.

“Luffy and the Straw Hats set sail for the extraordinary Grand Line — a legendary stretch of sea where danger and wonder await at every turn. As they journey through this unpredictable realm in search of the world’s greatest treasure, they’ll encounter bizarre islands and a host of formidable new enemies,” reads the synopsis for Season 2, which is now attached to the “Into the Grand Line” subhead.
Joining Godoy as a series regular are Mackenyu (Knights of the Zodiac), Emily Rudd (the Fear Street series), Jacob Romero (Greenleaf), and Taz Skylar (Gassed Up), who will reprise their respective roles as Zoro, Nami, Usopp, and Sanji. Other returning faces include Ilia Isorelys Paulino’s Alvida, Jeff Ward’s Buggy, and Michael Dorman’s Gold Roger.
As for newcomers, the sophomore outing is getting a whole load of them. Executive members of the Baroque Works, also known as Agents, have been cast, joining the likes of Rigo Sanchez (Outer Banks, Goliath) as the mysterious Dragon, Katey Sagal (Sons of Anarchy, The Conners) as Dr. Kureha, Mark Harelik (Presumed Innocent, Preacher) as Dr. Hiriluk, Werner Coetser (Getroud met rugby) as Dorry, co-captain of the Giant Warrior Pirates, Clive Russell (Game of Thrones) as Crocus, Julia Rehwald (Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures) as Master Chief Petty Officer Tashigi of the Marines, and Rob Colletti (The Many Saints of Newark) as Wapol, King of Drum Kingdom, and more.

Netflix’s One Piece has undergone several showrunner changes across its three seasons. Originally developed by Matt Owens and Steven Maeda, who served as co-showrunners on Season 1, the show lost the latter first, with Tracz stepping up to the plate. Owens announced his departure from the second season at a later date, citing mental health reasons.
One Piece Season 2 sets sail sometime in 2026.
