Netflix’s ‘Arcane’ Season 2 Sets Three-Part Release

As anticipation continues to build for the second season of Arcane, Netflix has released a short snippet to tide over the wait, alongside a three-act release plan. The video, shown as part of the streamer’s Geeked Week 2024 event, treated fans to an extended look at Hailee Steinfeld’s worn-down, rage-fuelled Vi in an underground fighting ring, sporting the same edgy look in an earlier trailer for the show.

Following an explosive introduction to the vigilante, who lands a devastating knockout on a massive fighter with an iron jaw, it puts her through the wringer with a self-destructive cycle of bare-knuckled brawling and drinking. Through the binge, Vi is haunted by flashes of Jinx, Caitlyn, and other elements of her past, with the background music building up to her defeat, leaving her bruised and battered in front of her apartment.

The sequel will air in three parts, just like the first season. Act One is scheduled for 9 November, followed by Act Two on 16 November, with Act Three capping off the saga on 23 November. Co-creators Christian Linke and Alex Yee are back at the helm, working alongside returning production company Fortiche to bring stunning visuals to life.

Ella Purnell and Katie Leung will reprise their roles as Jinx and Caitlyn respectively, joining other series veterans like Reed Shannon (Ekko), Amirah Vann (Sevika), Mick Wingert (Heimerdinger), Ellen Thomas (Ambessa), Brett Tucker (Singed), and more.

Additionally, Arcane Season 2 is set to introduce an aftershow titled Afterglow, featuring a pair-up between Steinfeld and Purnell. It will come on the heels of each act and see both stars unearthing further details about the show. More information is expected in the coming weeks before the new episodes arrive.

Picking up in the aftermath of Season 1’s finale, the sophomore outing promises to be even more of a ride. The released trailers have strongly hinted at a darker tone and thematic exploration, with the doomed sibling trope poised to be more fleshed out. Previously, Purnell herself also used “devastating tearjerker” to describe the conclusion of Arcane Season 2.
