Liam Neeson in a mini-skirt and strawberry underwear is a sentence you’d never thought to see, but here we are. In a brief one-minute trailer of the new Naked Gun reboot shared online and at CinemaCon 2025, the Taken star first appears as a little girl with an oversized lollipop in hand, who walks into a hostage situation.
“What do you want, little one?” asks a gunman, before she rips off the face mask to reveal Neeson. “Your ass,” he quips, as the lollipop turns into a shiv used to stab and rip all enemies apart. After the action, a rescued hostage asks for his name, to which the 72-year-old replies, “Frank Drebin, police squad. The new version!”. Cue the earlier mentioned scene: Neeson with his leg up on a stool, putting his strawberry-themed boxers on full display.
It’s the kind of absurdist, over-the-top comedy that honours the spirit of the original, further shown when his character pays tribute to his dad and original protagonist Franklin “Frank” Drebin, played by the late Leslie Nielsen. “Hi, Daddy, it’s me, Frank Jr,” he says. “Love you.”

Written by Dan Gregor, Doug Mand, and Lonely Island member Akiva Schaffer, the Naked Gun reboot also stars Pamela Anderson, CCH Pounder, Kevin Durand, Liza Koshy, Cody Rhodes, Eddie Yu, and Danny Houston. Exact plot details remain under wraps, but the 1988 crime action comedy film follows Drebin as he sets out to uncover a criminal plot involving mind control and assassinations.
Naked Gun will bring the heat on 1 August.
