Multiplayer Games ‘ARC Raiders’ And ‘The Finals’ Get Film & TV Adaptations

Nexon-owned video game developer Embark Studios and The North Road Company’s Chernin Entertainment are teaming up for movie and TV adaptations of two multiplayer video game IPs, ARC Raiders and The Finals.

ARC Raiders

As reported by Variety, The North Road Company’s Chernin Entertainment film and TV division emerged victorious amongst the production companies and studios that competed for the rights to the projects, and will now serve as lead producer of the film and TV adaptations of the two gaming franchises.

“Nexon’s agreement with Chernin Entertainment is the next big step in growing ARC Raiders and The Finals into deeply integrated transmedia experiences that reward the passion of our global player community,” said Nexon executive chairman and Embark Studios founder and CEO Patrick Söderlund in a statement. “Throughout the process, the creative teams at Embark Studios will work closely with Chernin to ensure the creativity that defines both of these properties extends into all-new formats.”

ARC Raiders is a multiplayer extraction shooter released in October 2025 that sees a post-apocalyptic Earth ravaged by a mechanical threat known as ARC, with players taking on the role of Raiders as they scavenge the surface world while dealing with both hostile AI-controlled machines and other Raiders.

The Finals

The Finals, on the other hand, is a free-to-play first-person shooter released in December 2023 that sees players going head-to-head in a combat-centred game show. The game focuses on team-based matches within arenas with a fully destructible environment, where players are able to leverage the dynamic environment to their advantage. Both titles were developed by Embark Studios and designed as live-service games, each receiving regular updates post-launch, including new game modes, maps, and cosmetics.
