‘Mean Girls’ Releases Final Trailer, Now With Music

Mean Girls is going all out, and with the movie musical’s final trailer giving us a sneak peek into World Burn, Regina George has got the gasoline. Inspired by both the movie and the musical, Mean Girls combines both to create a fresh twist on the beloved classic.

We’re lucky to get a song from the musical in the trailer at all, with previous trailers having a a surprising lack of music for a musical movie. Iconic moments from the original 2011 film also return, like the Jingle Bell Rock scene and the Halloween party, and musical fans will recognise certain numbers being hinted in the trailer like ‘Revenge Party’ and ‘Sexy’.

Notably absent from the final trailer is the previous trailer’s TikTok spoof moments, which left fans confused on first viewing. Samantha Jayne and Arthuro Perez Jr. serve as directors, with Tina Fey penning the screenplay.

The movie will hit cinemas on 12 January 2024, with Angourie Rice as Cady, Renée Rapp as Regina George, Avantika as Karen, and Bebe Wood as Gretchen. Here’s the official synopsis for the film:

“New student Cady Heron gets welcomed into the top of the social food chain by an elite group of popular girls called the Plastics, ruled by the conniving queen bee Regina George. However, when Cady makes the major misstep of falling for Regina’s ex-boyfriend, she soon finds herself caught in their crosshairs.”
