The comic series was first published in 1995, and the titular character, Avengelyne’s design was based off heroine Vampirella. The plot of the comics centres around Avengelyne, the most feared warrior in Heaven’s Warhost, having single-handedly broken into Pandemonium, the outer fortress of Hell, to confront the Devil himself. She becomes a fallen angel and is banished from Heaven by God after being tricked into questioning His love for humans. She uses her powers to fight demons on earth and is being groomed to be humankind’s last hope in a coming Armageddon.

News of an Avengelyne film adaptation was first announced back in 2013, and at one point was purchased by Paramount, but eventually fell through. Robbie, Wilde, and Kinberg plan to shop the series to studios and producers soon, and more developments are expected to follow in the coming weeks.
