This past weekend, Kaiju No. 8 concluded its first season with a climactic finale that has left fans eager for more. Shortly after the season wrapped, Crunchyroll delighted viewers by confirming the return of the anime series for Season 2.
The series, which streams globally on Crunchyroll to over 200 countries outside of Japan, dives into an alternate universe. Here, regular attacks from giant monsters, or kaiju, create chaos. The storyline tracks the journey of Kafka, a once-aspiring hero who shelved his dreams of battling for Tokyo. His life takes a dramatic turn following an unexpected encounter with a kaiju, reigniting his heroic aspirations.
According to Crunchyroll’s official synopsis:
“In a world plagued by creatures known as Kaiju, Kafka Hibino aspired to enlist in The Defense Force. He makes a promise to enlist with his childhood friend, Mina Ashiro. Soon, life takes them in separate ways. While employed cleaning up after Kaiju battles, Kafka meets Reno Ichikawa. Reno’s determination to join The Defense Force reawakens Kafka’s promise to join Mina and protect humanity.”
Kaiju No. 8 has been dubbed by Crunchyroll, with the dubbed version of the finale scheduled to air on 13 July.
