The demand for dedicated hobby features on wearable devices continues to grow, and Huawei is adding another specialisation to the list. The Huawei Watch Ultimate lineup will introduce an all-new Golf Course mode, joining the Watch GT 5 series and the MatePad Pro 12.2-inch in offering the latest generation of smart experiences.
For starters, the Ultimate family of wristwear now sees a striking Green Edition that complements the existing Blue and Black models. It sports an exclusive dual-colour nano-tech ceramic bezel, and is crafted with Zirconium-based liquid metal — a first on smartwatches — and sapphire crystal glass. Users can also expect more strap variety, such as a breathable, splash-resistant, and antibacterial woven iteration, alongside five new preset watch faces.
Meanwhile, the Golf Course mode update allows access to over 15,000 golf course maps worldwide. An optimised 3D course effect delivers a clear, panoramic view of obstacles and layouts, while the Plays-Like distance functionality adjusts measurements based on fairway slopes. Data-driven features, including wind speed and direction, as well as green slope information, prove handy for strategising and making informed decisions, with AI Caddie pulling up intelligent recommendations based on terrain slope, hazards, and shot distance.
Rounding out the feature suite is the Dual-Frequency Five-System GNSS, which displays the distance of the previous shot after each stroke, and helps users better understand the performance of each club during a round and adjust their shot strategies.
Additionally, Expedition Mode has been enhanced as part of the update. All-colour contour maps can now be downloaded for offline use, with Dim Mode offering better visibility in low-light conditions. Routes and marked points can also be imported from the Huawei Health app, courtesy of the Expedition Route Import feature.
The Huawei Watch Ultimate Green Edition will be available for pre-order in Singapore from 26 September, with local availability and pricing to be announced later. Part of a larger product announcement, it comes accompanied by the Huawei Watch GT 5 series, which boasts 12 models in both Pro and Standard iterations.
More notably, the devices are among the first Huawei smartwatches to feature the company’s TruSense system that tracks over 60 health and fitness indicators across six bodily systems. Emotional Wellbeing Assistant also promises a more holistic experience, packing features focusing on both the physiological and psychological aspects.
For sports enthusiasts, the Huawei Watch GT 5 Pro includes the Golf Course mode, a Free Diving mode, and a Trail Run mode. Battery life is rated at 14 days on the 46mm models, while the smaller 41mm and 42mm builds can last up to seven days.
The Chinese giant also went beyond wearables to announce its newest flagship tablet. Equipped with the Tandem OLED PaperMatte Display, the Huawei MatePad Pro 12.2-inch touts anti-glare technology and a paper-like visual experience. It bundles in the Huawei Glide Keyboard, which ships with a 2-in-1 stylus and keyboard storage, while the included GoPaint app offers a wide array of digital creation tools, such as Splatter and Fluid brushes. The FangTian Painting Engine 2.0, meanwhile, supports an 8K ultra-large canvas, packing professional-grade tools for artistic
expression.
Pre-order for both the Huawei Watch GT5 series and MatePad Pro 12.2-inch opens on 26 September. Additional product and launch details will be announced at a later date.
