‘Horizon Call of the Mountain’ Gameplay Sells The Potential of PS VR2

We all know that the PS5 will be getting its own upgraded virtual reality headset in the form of the PlayStation VR2, and that can bring even more awesome gaming experiences. One of those happens to be the Horizon spin-off Horizon Call of the Mountain, and at the latest State of Play presentation, we finally get to see gameplay in action.

Developed by new Sony studio Firesprite, Horizon Call of the Mountain looks to “embrace a new level of immersion in a unique experience, designed to push hardware technology, innovation, and gameplay.”

Players will become Ryas, a former Shadow Carja Warrior who is seeking redemption. This will require the investigation of a grave new threat to the Sundom, and players can expect to climb great heights and do battle with the machines using archery and potentially more weapons. If you ever wanted to face a Thunderjaw in VR, this is your chance.

Horizon Call of the Mountain will also see the appearance of familiar faces, including Aloy, and alongside gameplay in the story mode, there is also a River Ride mode. In that mode, you can enjoy the scenery on a ride down the river, although there will likely be some nosy machines that will get in the way.

Speaking of Aloy, a new major update is now live for Horizon Forbidden West. It adds Performance Mode, Transmog, a way to reset skills, Ultra Hard Difficulty, New Game+, New Game+ Trophies, and more, including a new Herbalist vendor and improved Temporal Anti-Aliasing.
