Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, Hideo Kojima’s upcoming sequel to the hit 2019 walking simulator, is set to include a neat feature to allow players to focus on making their deliveries – the ability to skip boss battles entirely.
The announcement of this new feature came from Kojima himself, who appeared during a recent Koji Pro radio broadcast. According to X\Twitter user Genki_JPN, who translated the episode, this feature will help players who are less experienced at action games to easily clear boss encounters, which makes a lot of sense considering the game’s heavy emphasis on storytelling, atmosphere, and most importantly, walking between locations to make deliveries.

“For boss battles in DS2 (presumably in easy mode) there will be an extra option on the game over screen below the “continue” option.” Genki explained, “This option will let you clear the boss battle and show you image and text descriptions of the battle like a novel instead to let [players] clear the boss battle easily!”
First revealed during The Game Awards 2022, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach has since seen a steady stream of trailers showing off glimpses of the game’s features, such as its realistic photo mode, new characters like Elle Fanning’s Tomorrow and Shioli Kutsuna’s Rainy, and, most recently, a lengthy 10-minute trailer showcasing its heavy Metal Gear inspiration including a new character Neil (played by Luca Marinelli), who looks remarkably similar to Solid Snake.
The franchise isn’t just stopping with games, though, as a live-action movie adaption is also in the works, with acclaimed studio A24 recently tapping on A Quiet Place: Day One director Michael Sarnoski to bring the genre-defying IP to the big screen, with a narrative that’s set to explore the how the games titular Death Stranding, a phenomenon that drove the world to the brink of destruction, came to be.
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is set to arrive on the PlayStation 5 on 26 June 2025.
