Henry Cavill No Longer Returning As Superman

Henry Cavill is hanging up his cape as Superman.

In a heartbreaking Instagram post, the actor shared that he will no longer be returning to the role of Superman after a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran.

“I have just had a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran and it’s sad news, everyone. I will, after all, not be returning as Superman. After being told by the studio to announce my return back in October, prior to their hire, this news isn’t the easiest, but that’s life,” wrote Cavill.

“For those who have been by my side through the years… we can mourn for a bit, but then we must remember… Superman is still around. Everything he stands for still exists, and the examples he sets for us are still there!”

Cavill’s return to Superman has been long-awaited and has been a journey for both fans and the actor. Cavill officially announced his return in October and fans celebrated the news with a special cameo in Black Adam. A Man of Steel sequel with Cavill to lead was also reportedly in the works and all seemed to go well. This is especially since the actor had to give up another popular role of his, Geralt of Rivia in Netflix’s The Witcher series to don the red cape once more.

We wish Cavill the best, he will always be our Superman.
