As Baldur’s Gate 3 celebrates its first anniversary, Larian Studios has shared an insightful glimpse into the romantic decisions players have made throughout their adventures. The studio revealed an array of statistics that highlight not only combat and exploration preferences but also the intimate choices of players in romance and companionship.
Among the fascinating revelations is that the game’s companions were kissed 75 million times in total. Shadowheart topped the charts with 27 million kisses and Astarion wasn’t far behind, drawing in 15 million love bites. Meanwhile, Minthara trailed with a mere 169,937 kisses, reflecting her less favourable standing in the heartstrings of players.
An even more intriguing statistic emerged regarding Halsin, the Druid who can shapeshift into a bear. Of the 658,000 players who ventured into a romantic escapade with Halsin, 70% chose his human form, while a bold 30% opted for his bear form, embracing the wild, furry side of their fantasy romance and literally choosing the bear.
The game also revealed a bold choice with The Emperor, a central character that players first encounter telepathically. Over 1.1 million players engaged in a romance with The Emperor, with 37% daring to explore their connection in his mind-flayer form, adding a dark tentacle-y twist to their love story.
Larian’s announcement also highlighted some of the more dramatic story choices players made. A notable 3.3 million players succeeded in defeating the formidable Netherbrain, while 1.8 million took the route of betraying the mind-flayer emperor.
As the anticipation builds for the upcoming content with potential new companions and story arcs, Larian Studios continues to captivate the gaming community with their title which has set a new standard for CRPGs. With the game set to introduce even more content in its upcoming Patch 7, the realms of the Forgotten Realms are poised to offer even greater adventures.
