Google has just unveiled the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, marking a significant leap in its smartphone innovation. This new device not only introduces the largest display ever seen on a Google phone but also boasts a thinner foldable design, melding cutting-edge technology with a sleek, sophisticated aesthetic. As the latest addition to the Pixel portfolio, this foldable phone sets a new standard for the mobile device market with its impressive form factor and advanced capabilities.
Sporting the thinnest profile among foldable phones to date, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold features a big inner display that is the largest currently available on any mobile device. The phone’s fluid-friction hinge allows it to open flat with a satisfying snap, making the most of its Super Actua Flex display, which is 80% brighter than its predecessor and ideal for outdoor use. Additionally, the device is designed to be durable, featuring scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and an IPX8 water resistance rating, which allows for submersion up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes.
At the core of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is Google’s new Tensor G4 chip, which enhances performance and efficiency across various applications. The phone’s large display facilitates multitasking with features such as split-screen for apps, drag-and-drop functionality, and dual-screen Google Meet sessions, allowing users to share their views while remaining visible.
Google has also integrated its most loved AI-driven tools into the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. These include functionalities like Pixel Screenshots, Pixel Studio, and Circle to Search, alongside cutting-edge photography features such as Magic Editor and Video Boost. The Pixel 9 Pro Fold sports an advanced triple rear camera system, which now includes an upgraded ultrawide camera with Macro Focus and improved front cameras supporting Face Unlock in both folded and unfolded modes.
For parents, a new camera feature called Made You Look uses animations on the outer screen to capture children’s attention, making it easier to take great photos without the usual distractions.
The entertainment experience on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is equally robust. The device supports multiview on YouTube TV, allowing users to watch up to four events simultaneously, perfect for sports fans. Gaming is also enhanced, with games like Asphalt Unite and Disney Speedstorm optimized for the device’s large screen and tabletop mode.
The Pixel 9 Pro Fold is available in two colours, Porcelain and Obsidian, and can be pre-ordered today from S$2,399 onwards. In the Asia region, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold will be releasing in Japan, India, Australia, Singapore, and Taiwan.
