Go Bananas With Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD In October

Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz was enjoyable couch party fun in its heyday, serving up 100 levels, eight boss battles, 50 minigames, and a party minigame tournament mode to owners of the Wii.

With Sega’s latest announcement of Super Monkey: Banana Blitz HD, it seems AiAi and his group of primate friends are all set for a return – this time to the PC and console platforms.

Scheduled to launch on October 29, 2019 for PS4, Switch and Xbox One, and Winter 2019 on Steam, the game will offer, in the words of Sega, “updated graphics, optimised control schemes for each platform, a brand-new mini-game Decathalon mode where you complete a set of 10 mini-games in a row, and online leaderboards.”

It’s tagged to a US$39.99 price tag on console, with an unannounced price for its PC counterpart.

Considering the mixed reception to the original, the new gameplay features may very well bring in that extra bit of oomph and competitive edge that were absent in Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz.

Completing mini-games in succession certainly makes for a respectable challenge, and the race to the top in online leaderboards is sure to spark the competitive spirit within players – there’s no holding back on going bananas and having a ball of a time (heh), after all.
