It’ll be a while before Season 2 of Frieren: Beyond the Journey’s End rolls around, but fans can fill the void by stepping back into the fantasy world and connecting with other like-minded enthusiasts for a limited time. Japanese publisher Shogakukan has announced an online festival centred on the highly popular series, offering free and ticketed content from 4 December 2024 to 31 May 2025.
Virtual doors are now open, with tickets priced at 1,650 yen (S$14.80) for additional access to a digital museum, audio guides, weekly manga panel icons, and more. Basic admission is free, however, allowing fans to interact through short messages and emotes in the Plaza Area, share their thoughts and impressions about the show on the Message Board, and use a special AR camera to place and photograph Himmel statues in various locations.
Notable participatory highlights include a fanart project, where creators can submit original illustrations based on Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, and a questionnaire about folk magic interests. Both activities will run from 4 December to 31 January 2025, 11.59pm JST.
As for the museum, the experience is set to unfold over two parts. The first, titled “The Current Journey”, has gone live and revisits the events after Himmel’s death. Meanwhile, “The Past Journey” will open on Christmas Day (25 December), covering the period before that. Each section takes visitors through Frieren’s emotional journey and the memories shared with her companions, with Himmel’s voice actor Nobuhiko Okamoto providing the Japanese narration for the exhibits.
An S-PACE account is required for the Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End online festival, accessible through a smartphone or PC. It runs from 4 December 2024 to 31 May 2025, with the full list of customisation items and perks for ticket holders as follows:
- Audio Guide
- Avatars (5 types in total)
- Manga Panel Icons (18 types in total)
- Custom Name Plates (4 types in total)
- My Profile Backgrounds (4 types in total)
- Treasure Chest Opening (additional manga panel icons can be obtained)

According to the content update schedule, a new user exhibit area is also due in mid-January, alongside a ticket-exclusive experience scheduled for February. More details will be announced nearer to the date.
