‘Final Fantasy VII Rebirth’ Demo Now Available

With the release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth just around the corner, Square Enix is ramping up their efforts to stir up more hype for the game. The company has officially released a demo for the highly-anticipated title, which is now available to download via the PlayStation Store.

Announced at the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth State of Play, it will have fans playing as Cloud and Sephiroth in a sequence from the early part of the game. The official description reads, “The ‘Fall of a Hero in Nibelheim’ demo features an extended flashback section, as Cloud Strife recalls an earlier mission in his career as a SOLDIER – the Nibelheim Incident.”

The demo marks the first of a two-part update, set to receive a follow-up on 21 February. This second playable section will allow players to explore part of the Junon region, with those who complete the Nibelheim episode able to skip the same section in the full game. Players with save data from the demo can also claim a kupo charm and and an adventuring items set upon the title’s release on 29 February.

Alongside the confirmation of the demo, the State of Play showcase showed off 11 minutes of new gameplay as well, giving an extended look at the map, mini-games, exploration, side activities, and more.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is the second entry in the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy, bringing a fresh and modern twist to Square Enix’s 1997 classic. The first game was first released in 2020 for the PS4, and later ported to PS5 and PC. Cloud’s journey will continue with the sequel’s PS5 release on 29 February.
