Eddie Murphy Shades Puss In Boots, Proposes Donkey In ‘Shrek 5’ Or Spin-off

If there’s any Shrek character deserving of a spin-off movie, Eddie Murphy thinks its Donkey – not Puss in Boots.

After appearing in the first four Shrek movies, Murphy is ready to reprise his role as Donkey in Shrek 5 or a spin-off. In fact, he’d do it in “two seconds”.

“I’d absolutely be open if they ever came with another Shrek, I’d do it in two seconds. I love Donkey,” Murphy told Etalk in an interview.

“You know, they did Puss in Boots movies. I was like, ‘They should have did a Donkey movie. Donkey is funnier than Puss in Boots. I mean, I love Puss in Boots, but he ain’t funny as the Donkey.”

Voiced by Antonio Banderas, Puss in Boots first appeared in Shrek 2 (2004) before receiving his first solo spin-off movie in 2011. Speaking at the Red Sea Film Festival, Banderas hinted that a Shrek 5 movie is likely – one that Murphy hopes will happen too. Of course, the decision lies in the hands of Dreakworks Animation.

“I would do a Donkey movie. I would do another Shrek in two seconds,” continued Murphy. “That’s Dreamworks Animation. They have to want to do it. Dreamworks, if you all want to do it, just call me. I’m ready, I’m sitting and ready to do Donkey.”
