Florence Pugh In Talks to Join ‘Dune: Part 2’ As Princess Irulan

Denis Villeneuve’s Dune (2021) was an unexpected triumph of a film, and as an adaptation of a classic sci-fi novel by Frank Herbert, there was no way to contain every story beat into a single movie. Thus, we know that there’s a Dune: Part 2 on the horizon to dig deeper into the story.

The continuation will star Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, and others reprising their original roles. Now, according to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, there is a chance that Florence Pugh (Black Widow, Hawkeye) would be joining the tense battles on the desert planet of Arrakis.

Pugh is possibly playing Princess Irulan, the daughter of Emperor Shaddam IV, who is also yet to be casted. However, a deal is yet to be finalised, as the script is still in the works. Scheduling could also throw a wrench in the works as Pugh could get the lead role in the Madonna biopic, which would potentially render her unavailable for Dune: Part 2.

Dune: Part 2 is set for a 20 October 2023 release, and in the coming months, hopefully, we get to learn which stars will be taking on the new roles. One thing’s for sure, sci-fi fans will be keeping their eyes peeled for this one.
