‘Dune: Awakening’ Unveils Gameplay And Early 2025 Release

Dune: Awakening dropped a new in-depth gameplay reveal at Gamescom Opening Night Live, along with an anticipated release window. The survival-crafting shooter is slated for an early 2025 launch on PC, though console versions for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S are still up in the air with no confirmed dates yet.

The gameplay comprises a blend of survival mechanics, base building, and intense faction warfare. The trailer shows off a closer look at the game’s character creation process, showcasing how players will craft their unique identity in this hostile world.

From scaling cliffs to storming deserter bases, the early gameplay hints at a blend of strategy and action, emphasising both melee combat and precise shooting mechanics. The survival aspect goes even deeper, with players building bases equipped with blood purifiers — an essential tool for converting enemy blood into precious water.

But Dune: Awakening isn’t just about survival, it’s also about community and competition. The game introduces a system where players can save and sell blueprints of their structures, adding a layer of commerce to the mix. Guilds will allow hundreds of players to band together, though the narrative remains integral, with story-driven missions like pledging allegiance to the Harkonnen at Harko Village.

Venturing beyond the Shield Wall to hunt for spice introduces another layer of danger, as players will face off against one another in intense PvP skirmishes. And true to the Dune legacy, be prepared to summon and face off against the iconic, massive sandworms.
